Of all the words I could use to describe Cartagena, in short, I would say the city welcomes you with open arms and you don’t have to look very hard to find a friend or a few. There’s so much to discover and the locals don’t mind helping you do it. Some of the things I got around to doing were: photos with the Palenqueras, Sanctuary of Saint Peter Claver, Palace of the Inquisition, and the Clock Tower.
In Cartagena, I booked a street food tour because that’s where all of the food emphasis is in this city. That’s not to say there aren’t some great restaurants; it’s just that street food is where you’ll find the standout recipes that are likely passed down through families, generations and years of tradition.
Cartagena, Colombia is an absolutely breathtaking city that is very much vivid and lively. From the famous Palenqueras to the Arabic architecture to the aromatic street food, it is an adventurer’s dream. There’s so much to discover and the locals don’t mind helping you do it.
Cartagena, Columbia is a beautiful city that you can easily get swept away in because there is so much to see. Because it has become such a tourist location there are many ways you can go about seeing everything- walking tours, horse and carriage tours, boat trips, or some combination of all of those.
